Applications are invited for a Research Assistant - Statistical Geneticist to join the Genomics and Bioinformatics Core (GBC) within the Institute of Metabolic Science - Metabolic Research Laboratories at the Clinical School, University of Cambridge.
The GBC provides analytical and data management support to research groups within the Metabolic Research Laboratories (MRL). This covers aspects of genomics such as genome sequencing and single cell approaches, in addition to broader data integration efforts across multiple types of 'omics data. The advertised role provides analytical support in the design, implementation and interpretation of projects utilising human genetics data.
The role holder will use their computational skills and experience of using statistical genetics approaches to analyse whole exome/genome sequence data in both clinical genetic studies and/or large-scale population studies, such as the UK Biobank Study.
Applicants must have a degree in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or closely related fields.
This position also offers the potential for the successful candidate to study for a PhD alongside their employment (subject to the University Admissions policy).
This is a fixed term Research Assistant with funding available until 31 March 2030 and is available with immediate effect.
