Description

We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to work with Prof Roger Barker and Dr Annelies Quaegebeur studying heterochromatin erosion in Parkinson's disease.

The successful post-holder will also have the option of undertaking a PhD course as a staff member of the University of Cambridge.

The research project will integrate high-resolution, multi-omics post-mortem tissue analysis with functional validation in cellular models with the aim of identifying heterochromatin erosion as a key driver of the regional pathology of Parkinson's Disease (PD) and thus its clinical heterogeneity and progression. These findings could then lead to novel therapeutic strategies targeting epigenetic ageing processes in PD.

This project is embedded within the international Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP) network and will involve multi-disciplinary approaches as well as multi-institutional collaboration.

The successful candidate will help to support the ongoing efforts of other researchers within the group who are actively contributing to this project.
