Quality and Characteritzation Technician Jan 2016 -
Interfitial and Colloidal Chemistry Centre, Innovation and Development Centre - Scientific Research Superior Centre (CID-CSIC)
Work performed in the colloidal dispersions and nanostructured liquids characterization Service, in the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC).
In this service, I received formation in the operation of the following instruments:
- Rheometer
- Photon Cross Correlation Spectrometer, for size determination.
- Laser light diffraction spectrometer, for size distribution.
- Differential refractometer, for differential refractive index.
- Laser backscattering stability analyzer
- Optical microscopy, specifically enhanced dark-field coupled with hyperspectral analysis.
- Contact angle, interfacial and superficial tension instruments.
- Zeta potential analyzer.
- Scanning electron microscope.
The main determinations performed were:
- Emulsion stability analysis by centrifugation and UV-Visible spectroscopy.
- Emulsion droplet size by light diffraction.
- Study of plasmonic properties of gold and silver nanoparticles by enhanced dark-field microscopy coupled with hyperspectral analysis.
- Highly concentrated dispersion stability by simultaneous centrifugation and NIR-Visible spectroscopy with subsequent analysis by X-Ray attenuation.
In addition, management and updating of TECNIO and ISO 9001:2015 quality system certification was performed.
This included:
- Creation and updating of SOP, registers, templates, among others.
- Creation of verification methods and modification of already created procedures.
Moreover, I participated in the activities:
- Practical classes of optical microscopy in the course "Advanced Techniques for Encapsulation".
- Supervision of work performed by a high school student about the applications of silver nanoparticles.
