Positions

Postdoc Dec 2019 -

College of Health Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal

I am currently working on novel concept of drug delivery optimization for bacterial sepsis. The ongoing postdoctoral research work is oriented towards applications of computational design in
formulation development of nanosystems for antibacterial actions.
The computational studies include the exploration nanosystem interactions with receptors as well as design of novel functional polymer using Schrodinger (Glide, Bioluminate, IFD, Desmond),
Autodock and Amber tools. The designed system will be formulated and evaluated for their activity in vitro and animal models of infections.

Education

RTM Nagpur University 2011 - 2019

Field of study: Pharmaceutical Sciences
Degree: PhD

The research work was focused on design and development of
novel compounds as dual inhibitors for newer targets (antiretroviral
and antibacterial) using structure based drug designing approach.
The interacting sites for targeted enzymes were studies for
topological characteristics and accordingly ligands were designed
using computer aided drug designing tools like Schrodinger,
Discovery Studio, VLife MDS and Autodock. The in vitro and cell
based assay shows that few newly designed and developed ligands
efficiently inhibit in vitro growth of HIV-1 and inhibitory action
against most commonly associated bacteria. This evaluation was
performed in collaboration with a research unit from Rega institute,
Belgium which gives me an opportunity to establish and work in
collaborative environment.
