Andrea Moretti

Summary

I started my career in agricultural biotechnology than I focused my researches on structural biology and biochemistry, applied to pharmaceutical sciences. I am always up to provide the rigorous approach and the enthusiasm of a pharmaceutical scientist into new collaborations.
In 2012 I graduated with 110/110 magna cum laude at the University of Ferrara with a on yeast-based production for nutraceutic compounds at the Plant Research International in Wageningen (NL). In January 2016 I received my Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical and Food Biotechnology with focus on Biochemistry and Structural biology. I investigated the biochemistry and the 3D structure of a key enzyme involved in glioblastoma. In 2015 I was a visiting scholar at the Mitchell Cancer Institute in Mobile, AL, USA, where I tested inhibitors on a target enzyme of Glioma Stem Cells.
Actually I am a Post Doc at the Biochemistry and Structural Biology group with interest on human proteins of pharmaceutical interest.
In the meanwhile of my scientific researches, in 2014 I co-found among with three colleagues IXTAL, a biotech start-up. We provide high-qualified services in the field of biochemistry, structural biology and drug design. My role in IXTAL is to promote our research expertise and scout possible collaborations within the preclinical research of pharmaceutical companies and more in general with research-driven companies.
