Field of study: Nanoelectronics
Degree: PhD
In brief, my doctorate thesis work was based on the growth and characterization of hydrothermally synthesized ZnO nanostructures for optoelectronic applications. Related to this, I studied the phase transformation and tunability of optical properties of ZnO/ZnCr2O4 nanostructures which were synthesized using a suitable additive in the precursor solution. Finally, the hydrothermally grown ZnO NRs were utilized for demonstrating the field effect transistors (FETs). Moreover, a comparative study of FETs based on laterally and vertically aligned ZnO NRs network was carried out. We observed that the laterally aligned ZnO NRs network based FETs showed better performance compared to the vertically aligned NRs network based FETs. Further, highly photosensitive FETs were demonstrated by coating of gold (Au) and platinum (Pt) nanoparticles (NPs) over ZnO NRs network, hence utilizing the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomena happening at the interface of metal NPs/ZnO interface.
