Education
Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning
Field of study: Drug and liver toxicity
Degree: M.Phil (Lifesciences)
Thesis on comparative cytotoxicity of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on hepatocytes and human PBMCs: Co-crystallisation is a process of making changes to a drug by adding another molecule to the drug with the aim of increasing its efficacy in terms of solubility, toxicity, adsorption and other properties. Novel co-crystals were developed for drugs naproxen and diclofenac-sodium and their cytotoxicity in comparision to their commercial forms were carried out. Comparision to the immune reactions to these drugs were also made. The major techniques involved were rat dissection and perfusion method of hepatocytes extraction, PBMC culture, WST assay (a cytotoxicity assay).
Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning 2007 - 2009
Field of study: Biotechnology
Degree: M.Sc (Biotechnology)
Immunomodulatory effects of aloe vera on human PBMCs: The project aimed at finding the toxicity and proliferative properties of the gel of the aloe barbedensis miller on human PBMCs. The major techniques involved were PBMC culture, aloe vera gel extraction and cytotoxicity assay (XTT assay).
