About
Summary
I am a social scientist with sharp interest and experience in quantitative and qualitative methods and am mainly studying
a) change in social institutions such as the family in internationally comparative perspective. This also covers analysis of the determinants and effects of demographic change.
b) regional phenomena such as regionally differing fertility rates. I also ask how regional differences in social phenomena come about.
Up to now, I conducted quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research within the fields of family sociology, urban sociology and economic sociology. This involved conducting spatial analysis, demographic analyses such as sequence analysis and all “usual” kinds of quantitative analysis such as factor analysis and logistic regressions. I also conducted fieldwork and analyzed interviews to explore culture’s influence on regional differences in fertility.
