• Responsible for conducting engineering design reviews as needed by projects/tasks.

• Supervises junior level engineers and students, and oversees multi-member design teams.

• Mentors junior staff and students.

• Prepares technical reports/specifications.

• Supervise and provide design support for equipment in the instructional laboratories. Provide technical support in all lab's projects and activities. Train and supervise OPS on their work in preparing laboratories.

• Supervise and schedule lab facilities, and assist student and faculty with projects. Participate in faculty research as needed and provide engineering consulting services to the faculty.

• Supervise the safety and security of the labs and recommend policies to the Chairperson and enforce approved policies.

• Review technology design specifications, engineering blueprints and manuals to determine the feasibility of design, applicability to problems and whether equipment will meet process requirements.

• Inspects completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications.

• Advise and Assist in the interpretation and implementation of policies applicable to areas of assigned responsibility.

• Participate and Provide assistance in the development or enhancement of programs that support the goals and objectives of the department.

• Oversee and coordinate the operation enterprise-wise of commercial software. Manages software distribution under Microsoft MSDN agreement.

• Coordinate the acquisition of equipment, including delivery and installation. Prepare procurement packages and technology specifications packages for developing or purchasing computer systems and supplies for the MME Department's instructional labs.

• Contribute to the research and design of experimental internal combustion engines.

• Build and conduct experiments in hi-speed rotating cylindrical heat pipes.

• Design, manage, and implement experiments based on DOD contractual requirements. Past experiments included the conversion of DOD diesel vehicles into a bio-diesel powered platform, renewable energy powered mobile medical clinic for DOD quick reaction forces, and experimental robotics designs of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles.

• Teach and develop MME Department’s Laboratory courses.
