Positions
Theist ( 1 year) Oct 2015 - Oct 2016
Experimental Thesis, Università degli Studi di Catania, Dep. Drug Science
The aim of my experimental thesis for Master degree was the development of new synthetic method in order to obtain the labeling of a selective Sigma-1 receptor ligand with [11C] in the final step of the reaction scheme for positron emission tomography imaging. Indeed the aforementioned Sigma-1 receptor ligand (unlabeled) was previously developed and evaluated for its binding affinity in other work (Bioorganic & Med. Chem. 2016, 24, 3149–3156). The synthetic protocol followed in this work for the synthesis of this ligand is not particularly advantageous for radiolabeling of compound. Thus, I contributed with my team for design and development of a new synthetic scheme in order to obtain an increasing of concentration of labeled ligand and extended time to utilize the radioactivity of radiotracer. Furthermore, we have supplied the reaction and purification conditions that would lead to the development of PET probe, in fact the final step of reaction scheme will be made in partner structure.
