About

Summary

I am a highly experienced and passionate researcher in Chemical-Physics Science, Material Science and Condensed Matter Physics. I have conducted my scientific investigations using different pathways and my professional interests ranged several multidisciplinary contexts: this has allowed me to keep my mind open and flexible but result-driven at the same time. I got my Ph.D. in Physics (Condensed Matter Physics and Radiation) at Laue Langevin Institute & J. Fourier University (Grenoble, FR). Since my doctorate, I expanded several experiences in the chemistry-physics research.

Currently, I am a Teacher at the Technological & Scientific High School (Cagliari, IT). I teach Informatics, Physics and Mathematics with a temporary contract. At the same time, I collaborate with the University of L'Aquila - Department of Chemical Engineering, with the physical and chemical study of carbon materials as a function of the temperature in the green chemistry and nanotechnology sectors.

I am a very capable researcher, extremely passionate and motivated. I worked and collaborated for 7 years as a researcher in different Research Institute and University, I have gained excellent skills, knowledge and experience within different laboratories, using many techniques and instruments. As you can see by my resume, I am a hardworking person with excellent organizational skills, who strives to achieve the best in all domain, and I am always eager to learn new skills and advance my career.

postdoc Nov 2012 - Oct 2016

Physics, Biometeorology Institute - National Research Council

Carbon based material called ‘Biochar’ has been proposed as a possible mean for carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration into soils, thereby contributing to the reduction of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. The temperature of the pyrolysis process and the feedstock affect the physical and chemical characteristics of biochar, even if some properties are common to all biochars. In fact, biochar is usually characterized by high concentrations of carbon and aromatic structures that are responsible for its high recalcitrance. The European project of biochar include, as well, the study of morphological and physical macro features of biochar; in this context, I performed lot of experiments to understand the macro characteristics of biochars, considering different ‘conditions’, such as pyrolysis temperature, waste/feedstock and age of biochar.

Biochar is a hetero-structure composed by, essentially, three macro-parts: the core or recalcitrance part, the semi-label part and the totally label part called ‘particulate’.

In the second step, I was interested to study the advantages and disadvantages of the particulate of biochar in the environmental safety domain, performing the aerosol measurements.

The third part of my work was focused to study the molecules of biochar, in particular, graphite and graphene with the aim to take advantage from biochar to have graphite and graphene with low-cost and green production to use in nanotechnology.

I have written a brief proposal concerning this project, taking care the green production and the physical characterization of the graphite and graphene.

During the project, I participated and presented my research at several international conferences and I produced lot of scientific papers, both as principal investigator and co-worker.

I organized international conference with the support to my colleagues; I planned all of my experiments and I written different proposal to obtain instrumental time in different European facilities.

I collaborated in the different projects of my colleagues, to give my support and my knowledge in multi-disciplinary domain.

Subsection of the biochar project concerned the morphological study the biochars samples.

I become an expert in my group of the Electron Microscope, such as SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and (Transmission Electron Microscope), for several organic samples (biochar, roots, food samples, and so on).

Subsection of biochar oxidation (into the soil).

I proposed an experimental planning of oxidation-process simulation, studying the changes of the molecule and the amount of chemical elements.

Subsection of crystal structures of biochar (organic and inorganic compounds into the biochar).

I performed lot of experiments of X-Ray Diffraction (XDR) technique to analyze several biochar samples.

I written and proposed a project concerning the biochar as a tank of graphite and graphene structures to use in nanotech, at the same time in green production field.

I worked with several colleagues, came from different physics field and science domain (chemists, engineers, environmental scientists, biologists, agronomists, social scientists).

I received an international award (Medal Gold of Italian Republic President) about my scientific research of traceability of wine (Brunello di Montalcino-Siena, IT).

I won two ‘Certificate for excellent scientific work’ for the traceability of wine.

I proposed to a food-science group (from other Institute) a new methodology to use in my wine research and, as well, coffee and saffron samples. Nowadays, I completed the traceability study about wine and coffee.

I have written and proposed two scientific projects for the thesis of Second Level Degree students.

The projects got the funding through the Abruzzo Region (IT).

From 2014, I become an organizer of Physics International Conference, called Young Research Meeting-YRM in the Permanent Organizers Committee (POC). My duties include to get the funding, presents the proposal with the budget of the conference to the sponsors, to coordinate the ‘Local Organizers Committee’ (LOC), to communicate by official email with the participants.

From YRM international conference, the permanent organizers and I created and organized the ‘International Physicist Network’-IPN. My role is the secretary of the society.

I am the scientific referee for different scientific review and for the proceedings in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series.

Education

J. Fourier University and Laue Langevin Institute 'ILL' (Grenoble, FR) 2006 - 2011

Field of study: Condensed Matter Physics
Degree: PhD

The PhD work concerned a nuclear and magnetic study of ceramic-oxide samples, such as Manganitic compounds, with general formula Ln0.5Ca0.5MnO3 (Ln = Nd, Pr, ....., Lu) by way of Neutron Powder Diffraction (NPD) and Ab-initio calculations (ILL, Grenoble, FR).
