IISER

Research Assistant (May 2015 – Till now)

Supervisor: Dr M. M. Shaijumon, Assistant Professor, School of Physics, IISER - Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.

Title: 3-dimensional electrode designing for batteries

Description: Interest in 3D batteries and its designing is growing exponentially across various scientific and engineering disciplines owing to their need for huge applications in various technological fields. Here in this project, various metal alloys and oxides are fabricated by electrodeposition and its composites are formed with various polymers and CNT and are optimized for its electrochemical studies.

Education

Bharathiar University 2014 - 2016

Field of study: Nanoscience and Technology
Degree: M.Sc.

Master Thesis (Nov 2015 – April 2016)

Supervisor: Dr M. M. Shaijumon, Assistant Professor, School of Physics, IISER - Thiruvananthapuram,

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.
ion batteries.
Title: Fe2TiO5 as anode material for Lithium and Sodium
Description: Fe2TiO5 was synthesized by solvothermal method and characterized through XRD, FTIR, Raman Spectroscopy and SEM. Different morphologies were formed for Fe2TiO5 using various surfactants and different composites were also synthesized. Electrochemical studies were performed for pristine Fe2TiO5 and its composites as anode for both Li-ion battery and Na-ion battery and the results showed the significance of presence of Fe in Fe2TiO5 when compared with TiO2 and Fe2O3 as anode

Skills

DEPOSITION TECHNIQUES: Thermal evaporation, electrochemical deposition.

REACTIONS: Chemical synthesis of nanomaterial, solid state reaction, hydrothermal and solvothermal reaction, sol-gel method, chemical exfoliation.

SPECTROSCOPY: UV-VIS spectrophotometry, FTIR, photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy.

OTHER: Chromatography, Electrochemical characterization, fabrication of coin cell.

Professional interests

The enormous applications of nanomaterials and the rich science that one can observe in these systems of material motivated me to choose this research area as a possible career option. The kind of research involved in your lab goes in sync with my interdisciplinary research background. Also I believe that the experience I have in materials science would be of great benefit in your field of research to start with.
