About
Summary
👋 I am Javier, originally from Spain and recently obtained a PhD in Human Biology 👨🎓 (Dr. Hum. Biol) from the University of Hamburg. Recently, I have started an exciting and challenging project for the validation of Bile as a liquid biopsy in cholangiocarcinoma 🧪 🧬, together with Prof. Jesus María Urman and Dr. Med. Maria Rullan as a PI and Co-PI respectively. My intention is to keep growing and be in a constantly dynamic phase of learning and instructing. Here there is a summary of some of my strengths 💪:
➜ Project management 🧠 - I have satisfactorily led my own two PhD projects. Right now, I am leading three projects as a postdoctoral researcher.
➜Time management ⏱️ and problem-solving skills 🎓 : demonstrated by a consistent record of meeting deadlines and deliverables for +4 years.
➜ Experimental Design🧪: developing the design of the experiments carried out. I established new experimental protocols and improved the old protocols, that colleagues from my group and other departments implemented successfully in their laboratories
➜ Interpersonal Skills 🛠️: proven by taking responsibility for the cell culture and molecular biology department of our research lab group during my PhD period. Multi-department collaborations with +4 research groups. Apart from the time-consuming PhD life, I managed to join CrossFit Centre, engaged in running training and participate in competitions.
➜ Communication Skills 🗣️: demonstrated by regular group progress report meetings during my PhD period, oral presentations at international conferences and author collaborator in scientific papers.
➜ Collaboration 🔛: working with collaborators, from intra- and extra-departmental, to all over the world colleagues to reach common goals.

Laboratory superior technician and researcher Jan 2018 - Sep 2018
Industrial microbiology innovation. I+D deparment in LEV2050 (Pamplona,Spain), whose activity is the innovation in industrial microbiology. Control and check of yeast and bacterial cell cultures. Control, check and implementation of bioreactors. Selection of winery’s microterroir of its own yeast and lactic acid bacteria, which were targeted as a nutritional study. The main approach of these studies is limiting fermentation of the autochthonous microorganism and exploring the optimal fermentation conditions of various yeast and lactic acid bacteria
Education
Universidad Autonoma de Madrid 2018 - 2019
Field of study: Pharmacy, Biomedicine
Degree: Master in Pharmacological Research
The main objective of this Master’s Degree in Pharmacological Research is to initiate researchers to a future of innovation, research and development of new drugs for diagnostics, prophylaxis or treating disease in humans, with the ultimate aim of improving the health and quality of life of individuals (patients) and society. The Master’s Programme develops students’ basic research skills and expertise.
One of the first aims is to ensure students acquire the basic knowledge for research in pharmacology, such as the physiological and pharmacological bases of therapeutics, the identification of potential therapeutic targets and new perspectives in pharmacological therapy. Students are also encouraged to learn transversal scientific research skills, such as gathering and presenting scientific information and its critical analysis or processing and analytical methods of experimental results.
Students are initiated in experimental laboratory techniques, from molecular to tissue levels and including molecular biology. Finally, clinical assay techniques are studied, as a fundamental pillar of pharmacological and clinical research in human beings.
University of Hull 2017 - 2017
Field of study: Pharmacy, Chemistry
Degree: DEGREE FINAL PROJECT
Erasmus Exchange. University of Hull (UK): The development of new organometallic ruthenium complex as potential anticancer agents. [(η6-arene)(Oxalate)(PTA)Ru] and [(η6- arene)(PTA)RuCl2] compounds have clearly demonstrated that the Ru(η6-arene) can produce complex with high activity against primary and secondary tumors. It is intended to extend the structural diversity of Ru Compounds (η6-arene) with the aim of improving selectivity and activity against metastasis. These kind of compound were synthetized, characterized, isolated and their behaviour was studied in physiological conditions (resembled intra and extracellular medium). Techniques and methods: synthesis of metal complexes, characterization: Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), elemental analysis.
Universitat Rovira i Virgili 2013 - 2017
Field of study: Chemistry
Degree: CHEMISTRY
The goal of the Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at the Rovira i Virgili University, is to educate qualified professionals for carrying out activity in the industrial, educational or research domains in an international environment. At the end of the Bachelor's degree we can develop new chemical compounds and controlling chemical processes in different domains of major relevance for the society, such as food industry, health, environment and new materials areas.
