Education
COMSATS University Islamabad 2015 - 2017
Field of study: Molecular Genetics
Degree: MS
Subject studied: Molecular biology, molecular genetics, cell signaling, advanced immunology, recombinant DNA technology, biology of cancers, gene regulation and expression, research techniques.
Thesis project: Expression analysis of chloride channels in cancers.
We collected the cancerous tissue samples along with surrounding normal tissue samples and extracted the RNA and convert it into cDNA. We designed the primers by using bioinformatics tools and optimize them with our gene of interest by using conventional PCR technique followed by gel electrophoresis. After optimization, we performed the Realtime PCR to observe the expression of chloride channels in cancerous and normal control tissue samples.
Additional project: Designing of a novel filter for efficient fluoride and arsenic removal from contaminated groundwater in Pakistan.
We synthesized the iron oxide and hydroxyapatite nanoparticles and further characterized by XRD. I actively involved in designing of primers and open reading frame of plasmid by bioinformatics tools. Practically, I performed the plasmid extraction and its transformation in DH5α competent cells. Furthermore, I inoculated the transformed cells on the arsenic resistant media to observe the growth of bacteria after cloning for the efficacy of our gene of interest present in the plasmid of bacteria. Moreover, we synthesized the iron oxide and hydroxyapatite nanoparticles and further characterized by various techniques like XRD.
King Edward Medical University Lahore 2010 - 2014
Field of study: Allied Health Sciences (Medical Laboratory Technology)
Degree: BSc Hons.
Main subject studied: Microbiology, Immunology, biotechnology, hematology, transfusion medicine, chemcial pathology, clinical pathology, histology, parasitology, mycology, pharmacology.
Thesis project: Fluctuation of serum potassium in open heart surgery patients at Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.
This is a retrospective study in which we obtained the blood samples of post CABG patients three time per day for three consecutive days. We performed the serum potassium level in biochemistry department and observed the fluctuation of serum potassium by using various statistical assays.
