About

Summary

I am an early-stage career researcher who is interested in environmental science, food safety and security research. My main interest is in the fate of heavy metals in soil and food. My current research is on the use of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry for rapid analysis of soils elements and its use to predict soil texture.  Also, I am studying the re-use of dairy processing waste in agriculture as a replacement for phosphorus fertiliser.

Positions

Phd Student Sep 2017 -

None

I am a research student evaluating the feasibility of dairy processing waste as a replacement for chemical phosphorus fertiliser in grassland farms in Ireland. Also, my research includes the use of X-ray fluorescence spectrometer for rapid analysis of heavy metals and macronutrients in soil.

Regulatory Officer Oct 2012 - Sep 2016

Food and Drugs Authority

I was responsible for advising clients on the procedure for registering their packaged foods with the Authority prior to market sale. Also, I had to address clients complaints in arising from registration of their food products. I evaluated food products based on the CODEX Guidelines and the Ghana Standards for food safety to ensure that pre-packaged foods on the Ghanaian market met the requirement for both standards and made recommendations to my organisation's committee for registration of food products.

Research Assistant Jul 2012 - Sep 2012

NOGUCHI MEMORIAL INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH

I was on a project which was studying malaria parasitology and immunology. I was responsible for culturing Plasmodium falciparum-(the main parasite for causing malaria disease) prior to inoculation of the Anopheles mosquito to study the behaviour of the parasite in the host. My responsibilities also involved identifying the parasite DNA through DNA electrophoresis.

Research Assistant (National service) Oct 2010 - Aug 2011

NOGUCHI MEMORIAL INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH

I was part of a team of researchers studying malaria immunology of pregnant women in the mid-west part of Ghana. My responsibility was to identify the relationship of parasite antigens to antibodies in the serum of pregnant women using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
