About
Summary
I am currently in the last months of my PhD studies; I have submitted my Thesis for reviewing and I will have my pre-defense in the end of September.
Simultaneously I work as a Research Assistant at the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Animal Health of Kaposvár University in Hungary. My duties include experimental desing, experiments' performing and statistical analysis of in vitro tests, classical microbiology culturing, lecturing and assisting to slaughterings.
My first Degree is in Agriculture/Animal Science and in my PhD project I have focused on the cyto- and genotoxic-single and combined- effects of three Fusarium mycotoxins on swine peripheral mononuclear cells (in vitro) as well as rabbits (in vivo).
Positions
Research assistant Sep 2016 -
Performing (experimental design, carrying out experiments, statistical analysis) and training visitor fellows for the in vitro assays CCK-8 (cytotoxicity) and Comet (genotoxicity).
Assisting/participating in slaughtering (pigs, rabbits, rats) and classical microbiology culturing.
Lipid extraction and separation (thin layer chromatography-TLC).
Teaching Production Physiology (MSc level in English language).
PhD researcher Sep 2013 -
Physiology, Biochemistry and Animal Health, Kaposvár University
My main task is to perform the experiments related to my research topic (The dose and time-dependent, single and combined cyto- and genotoxic effects of deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisin B1 mycotoxins).
Apart from from that I participate in the slaughtering process of rabbits (occasionally pigs and rats as well) working on different tasks (e.g. separation of different parts of the offals; recording weight and pH; blood collection). I also assist at the microbiology lab (preparing dilutions, disperse on agar).
I have also participated in the teaching process (Production Physiology taught to MSc students).
Education
Kaposvár University 2016 -
Field of study: Animal Science-Physiology
Degree: Ph.D.
Defense date is estimated in Spring-Autumn of 2017.
Agricultural University of Athens 2006 - 2013
Field of study: Animal Science and Aquaculture
Degree: MSc (Equivalent to Anglo-saxon degrees MSc in Agricultural Engineering and MSc in Agricultural Science)
During the five years of education at the Agricultural University of Athens I successfully attended 61 subjects, fulfilled four months of compulsory practical training and three additional months of extra training in the frame of Erasmus Exchange Program (Kaposvár University).
The title of my Thesis was "The Brown Adipose Tissue of Sheep". Histological cuts of perirenal fat of sheep were prepared confirming the morholog of the brown adipose tissue in sheep for the first time.
Skills
lymphocyte isolation; primary culture and cell lines handling; user of cryotomos; handling of experimental animals (rabbits, rats, mice); blood sampling (rats); classical microbiology culturing
Professional interests
R&D, microbiology laboratory
