Currently I am working on two topics in the  Hieracium s.str. group

Repeatome comparisions between sexual parental species, their naturalized hybridegenous apomictic and F1 offspring

  • employing RepeatExplorer pipeline
  • Hieracium s.str. is characterized by a big highly repetitive genome
  • RepeatExplorer has computational limitations
⇒ which of the observed differences are stochastic and which are biologically meaningfull?
  • developing a pipeline which estimates the accuracy and precision of the RepeatExplorer pipeline using different subsets of different input read sizes

Geographical parthenogenesis: evolutionary and ecological significance of apomictic reproduction in vascular plants

  • Hieracium alpinum: diploids with obligate sexual reproduction and triploids with obligate apomictic reproduction
  • diploids' distribution is limited to the South-Eastern Carpathians
  • triploids occupy the remaining much larger part of the distributional range: Alps, Fennoscandinavia, Western Carpathians

  • What is the evolutionary history / phylogeography of H. alpinum?

Combining results from ITS, AFLP, cpDNA and HybSeq data to assess the colonization history after the retreat of the glaciers

  • Does the level of phenotypic and phenological plasticity differ among apomictic clones and between apomictic clones and sexual genotypes when exposed to different controlled environmental conditions?

Analyses of results obtained from two common garden experiment encompassing  more than 800 plants originated from populations covering the whole distributional range
