About
Summary
I am a young Venezuelan biologist with an interest in the study of Neotropical amphibians and reptiles in aspects of evolution, taxonomy and natural history, with a greater focus on acoustic communication. I am curious, responsible, able to solve problems, self-taught and committed. I believe in the power of collaborative work.
During my training I have learned to use statistical tools, DNA sequence analysis, phylogenetic analysis, phylogenetic comparative methods and bioacoustics. I also have experience as a teacher, lecturer, and reviewer.
I was an Instructor in the Biology Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad de Los Andes (Mérida, Venezuela) where I taught the Animal Biology laboratory (2014-2016). I also acted as assistant to the herpetology and ichthyology collections of the Universidad de Los Andes Vertebrate Collection (CVULA). Previously, I worked as a high school teacher, in biology and natural sciences at the Ezequiel Zamora state public school (Mérida, Venezuela). During my training as a biologist, I worked for a year as a research assistant and communication assistant in a research project, and I was a teaching assistant for three years (2009-2012) in the zoology laboratory, in the biology degree from the Universidad de Los Andes. I have been reviewer for the following journals: Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, Amphibia-Reptilia, Behaviour, CheckList, Ecology and Evolution, Memoria, and Zootaxa.
