About
Summary
Recently, I worked at the university of Leicester as Research Associate in the neurobiology’s
group. During these two last years, I leaded many duties, from technical as performing
recordings, analyzing data, “in silico” modeling neural complex networks and prototyping
Graphical User Interfaces, to supervising people, writing scientific articles, conferencing and
public speaking.
In February 2014, I obtained the PhD degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya
(UPC in Barcelona), where I completed my Thesis work in the department of Physics and
nuclear Engineer, in the group of Optics and Nonlinear Dynamics (DONLL). My thesis work focused on understanding
the mechanism interplaying between internal noise and external parametric functions in
nonlinear systems. Particularly, the thesis has been devoted to better understand complex
systems as the paradigmatic behavior of a polystyrene particle in a nonlinear optical
landscape potential, and nonlinear dynamics in VCSEL semiconductor laser with feedback as
Low Frequency Fluctuations, and optically injected where huge pulses named “Rogue Waves”
can appear into a region of the input parameters.
Basically, that work concerns two parts. In the first, I performed experiments by using Optical
tweezers laser setup, while in the second one I numerically simulated Nonlinear dynamics of
semiconductor lasers, analyzed experimental data, and built analytical tools. Several articles
and conferences have been published, with interesting new insights into the fields.
Among the others, I spent one year at the universiteit van Amsterdam, where I became
interested in biophysics, particularly in single molecule techniques by using multiple optical
beams to manipulate DNA and enzymes, in order to detect exo/endo nucleosys events of
polymerase.
Besides, I am also an electronic engineer from the Polytechnic of Turin (Italy), where I
extensively studied electronic devices as transistors, Amplifier, Phase Locked Loop, etc. as
well the physics of semiconductor, their technology and applications in more complex devices.
In past, I worked in industrial automotive companies as consultant engineer, designing
specific tests for Electronic Control Units, and leading validation projects in a team of many
people.
