Summary

I started my academic endeavor from Yasuj University where I studied pure chemistry (B.Sc.) with excellent marks with an average of 18.45 of 20. In the last year of studying there in Yasuj, I participated in the 18th National Olympiad of Chemistry competition, ranked 5 and invited to 6th International Chemistry Olympiad, Isfahan, Iran. I ranked 4 among 13493 participants in national entrance competition for studying chemistry (M.Sc.) subfields i.e., analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, photochemistry, and polymer chemistry. I preferred to study polymer science and technology in Iran Polymer and Petrochemical Institute where I obtained my M.Sc. degree. My research focus was on encapsulation of peppermint oil (PO) in particulate polymeric devices with enteric delivery capability at which I learned a lot about the delivery of biologically active agents in a temporally (and/or spatially) controlled manner. Working under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Imani and Dr. Farhid Farahmandghavi at novel drug delivery systems dept., a new approach was adopted to design multi-particulate systems for drug delivery purposes. This approach was based on the application of density functional theory (DFT) to predict adsorption characteristics of different constituents of PO on the surface of microcrystalline cellulose to support the mechanisms behind the results obtained by experiments. Our findings with a potential business application were protected by patenting at Iran Intellectual Property Office (REG#91103, Dated 01/25/2017).
