The University of Duisburg-Essen is one of the youngest universities in Germany and thinks in terms of possibilities, not limitations. It holds place 17 in the Times Higher Education Ranking of the world’s 150 best universities that were founded in the past 50 years. paluno, The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology, was founded in 2010. In paluno eight professors and their teams join forces. With more than 100 academic staff members, paluno conducts application-oriented research on software development methods and software technologies for mobile computing, cloud services, cyber-physical systems, software product lines and adaptive systems. The research activities are performed in close cooperation with well-known partners from industry and research. Key application areas include the logistics, mobility, medical technology and energy domains.
