Engineering HR Is Looking for a New Owner: A Turnkey Platform for Engineering Talent

Announcement Created on 03 Sep 2026 by Alen Piljić

After several years running Engineering HR as a sister project to Science HR and Life Science Network, we've decided it's time to hand this platform to someone who can give it the attention it deserves. Engineering HR is fully built, low-cost to run, and ready to operate, and we're now looking for the right buyer to take it forward.

Engineering Human Resources (Engineering HR, www.engineering.hr) is a professional network and job board built specifically for engineers, researchers, and developers. It connects technical talent with employers across engineering, research, and development, and it was built on the same codebase that powers Science HR and Life Science Network, a codebase that has been tested and refined across sister platforms with a combined 100,000+ registered users and 2,000+ employers posting jobs. Engineering HR itself has around 1,000 registered users and roughly 10,000 followers across X/Twitter, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

Why We're Selling

Science HR grew into the platform we hoped it would be, and it's taken most of our time and focus over the past few years. Engineering HR, meanwhile, never got the investment it needed to grow alongside it, not because the idea is weaker, but because we've only ever been able to run one project properly at a time. Rather than let it sit idle, we'd rather see it go to someone who can dedicate real time to it, whether that's an individual founder, a recruiting or HR-tech business, or an existing engineering community looking for a ready-made platform.

What's Included

Engineering HR comes with a complete, working feature set:

  • Core modules: Jobs, Events, News, and a community Q&A ("Questions")
  • User system: personal pages functioning as online CVs, institutional/organization pages, a structural tree-model mapping of organizations
  • Engagement tools: comments, direct messaging, favorites/bookmarking, likes with follower notifications, a following system for people, organizations, topics, and job types, and a personalized content feed
  • Notifications: in-app and email reminders for messages, followers, and system events
  • Monetization already built in: payment integration (invoice, Stripe, prepaid accounts, post packages), automated invoicing with PDF and e-invoice (XML) formats, premium subscriptions, banner advertising via Google Ad Manager, and even a prototype of a light job-application system with collaborative candidate assessment
  • Automation: RSS-based content ingestion for jobs, events, and news.

Growth Potential

Someone who actively markets Engineering HR, invests in content and outreach, or merges it into an existing engineering or recruiting business could realistically follow the same growth path Science HR has taken. The brand, domain, and existing user and social base already in place are a head start that would otherwise take real time and money to build from zero.

Technical Overview

For anyone evaluating this from the codebase side: Engineering HR runs on Python/Django with a JavaScript frontend and PostgreSQL as the primary database. It's hosted on Heroku with AWS services (S3 for storage, SES for email, Elasticsearch for search), uses Redis for caching, and Cloudflare for CDN and security. Running costs are currently under $100/month, and the platform has been maintained by a single part-time operator with minimal ongoing effort required. A sale includes the full codebase, database, and domain, and we're available to support a smooth transition for the new owner.
